Making changes in life is like crossing monkey bars. At some point you have to trust in yourself enough that you can let go and reach forward to the next rung to make it to the other side. Otherwise the only other choice is to stand there watching everyone else move forward in life.

Warming things up this week is Jessica Mellot whose vocals talents shows why she was name winner of the 2006 Los Angeles Music Awards Pop Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year.

Speaking of amazing vocals Elise Berkes shows off her whimsical side alongside the folksy/pop music of her North American Royalty band mates. The combination creates a song that floats on a layer of acoustic and electric guitars riffs.

The trio known as Amelia carry on the folk/pop feel with their sparse sound and the vocals of their singer/studio drummer Teshia, painting simple sounds that hide a deeper meaning.

We really crank things up this week by ramping things up with some fast paced pop and kicking rock sounds that revolve around matters of the heart, starting off with the Second Dan and their pop/rock vibe as guitars play off and with each other while a crisp rhythm, laid down by pounding drums and thumping bass, speak of personal love and loss.

Plastilina Mosh (Jonaz Gonzalez and Alejandro Rosso) serve up a slice of pop meets rocks with Mexican influences for a sound that speaks of the passion of the thumping heart and the quirky nature that is infatuation.

Next up is the jangle of up-tempo guitars and crisp drums of Passenger, while the vocals of its lead singer (Mike Rosenberg) speaks frantically of the disturbing and darker side of infatuation.

We then slide further down the darker side of love with the big brash sound of The Dares as this trio churns out a heavy dose of driving pop/rock/punk with searing guitars and driving drums link up with the heavy push of the bass and take the vocals along on a roller coaster ride that is carried on by SPiN who blend music and vocals into a powerful swelling of emotions before Jo De La Rosa next hits us with her big voice and attitude.

It's time now to shift gears to get us back up and into a more dance oriented groove as Plastilina Mosh return, but this time they team up their driving rock based sound with fellow Mexican Ximena Sariñana sensual vocals for a sound that quickly gets into your ear canal and sets up permanent residence.

Seu Jorge offers up a mix traditional samba, samba rock, ballads, gafiera and the rhythms of Brazil that blend together into a rhythmic dance that swings and sways.

The Steve Ellington Band from the UK mix electronic and hip-hop to keep the beat going as we segue into the 'Ghettotech' sound from Mr. De' as he balances the groove of the dance floor with Detroit funk and skillfully placing jazzy horns and soulful keyboards on top of the mix.

Jason Walker showcases his voice, that echoes with his love of soul divas Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, but creating his own sound by mixing Soul with a splash of Pop, a heavy dash of R&B and good dollop of house.

We close the workout with Theatre of Disco whose sound reflects their name as they as they meld indie, disco and electronic into a frantic fast paced push to the finish line.

Cooling things down is the unique jazz/pop sound of Vanessa Daou as her breathy vocals float like a leaf along with the low and laid-back musical stream before the seven-piece New Zeeland based band The Black Seeds win you over with their blend of reggae, dub, funk and soul that's like a big slow breath sure to leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed  as we finish off this weeks show with the reverbed ominous bass heavy drumbeats, militant snare loops of Ben Base.

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.

Warming things ups this week is North American Royalty came together for the love of music, and builds their music in a collaborative way using the lyrics of singer Elise Berkes as their blueprint to guide them in creating songs full of depth, beauty and emotion.

South credit King Crimson band member, David Cross, as the reason they exist who helped instruct and allow them the use of school rehearsal space to hone their craft and sound.

Closing the warm up is a sneak peak at Peter Bradley Adams first solo release "Gather Up" August 1st, and credits his grandfather, a former professional jazz clarinetist and accomplished pianist, for helping to shape his love of music and his own unique stylings.

The Dandy Warhol's are back to crank things up with a funky base of alternative rock that stumbles into a Tex-Mex and comes off sounding like  a party in full swing.

We then hand things off to a quintet of DJ who are not satisfied with just playing and mixing other people music, but in drawing upon the musical influences of their youth to create their own signature sounds.

The Dutch team of Baggi Begovic, known for his passion of churning out hot banging house, and Funkerman (aka Ardie van Beek), who has been pulled from his initial love of hip-hop to house to show of his love of soul and R&B before Los Angeles' Zeroleen gets to showcase one of the best tracks we've heard with freestyle grooves and body rocking moves.

Chicago born composer/producer/DJ, Gregory J. Bennett shows why he works under the name of Groove Generator having had his musical ears tweaked to jazz and R&B, thanks to his dads record collection, and has allowed his own musical taste to evolve into a blend of hip-hop with dance floor grooves, a touch of electronic pop and a vibe that will keep you moving.

Hailing for the midweast is Cincinnati born Royal Sapien (DJ Ben Mautner) who has been embracing sound and spinning music since he was 14, and has gone from playing the music of others to producing his own unique dance tracks music as we merge into the sound of techy electro-house monster DJ Corey Baker as he builds up a wave of sound with synth pitching and the power of bass'n'drums to maintain the force of the beat.

We close out the cardio portion with DJ Eco who builds their music on their "life experiences or something that happened today will translate to a song. Seeing something on TV that triggers emotion in me will translate to a song. I don't want my song titles to be 'euphoria' or 'galactic space module', I want them to say something about myself, where I was last night, or the sad phone call I just got from my relatives. Call it cheesy but that's music."

We cool things down with the internationally renowned dance/jazz/pop sound of Vanessa Daou, and close out with The Orb providing slowed down rhythms of classic Chicago house with added synthwork and effects inspired by '70s ambient pioneers before we close to the music of Brandon Miles.

Tokyo 507: Tokyo 507

Available at CD Baby: $8.00

Blending elements of chill, house, a touch of swing for an up-tempo beat, thru the use of layered keyboards, jazzed guitars, sighing horns and ethereal vocals Tokyo 507 offer up nine tracks of music that can chill you or lift you up with their hypnotic groove, and is a good effort worth picking up.

Technically Tokyo 507's second self titled release is actually their first full length CD, after last years five track EP, that show case the long distance collaborative efforts of members; Australian Mark Southern (producer/songwriter/musician) and ex-Aussie, and now London based, Hayden Turner (songwriter/singer).

The elements of chill are best heard in the chilled out opening track 'Share Some Love' where the plaintive moan of the harmonica echoes the emotion of Turners aching vocals and Southern's masterful use of the guitar in the closing track 'Free', that will remind you of U2's The Edge's guitar work from MLK off of the Unforgettable Fire CD.

The duo pick things up in 'Body Electric' with jazzy guitar riffs, while elements of dance drive the beat of 'Bamboo Baby', and jazz and touches of swing create the moving vibe of 'Curious Groove'.

The vocal work of Hayden Turner is never allowed to over power the music, and instead one can feel the effort of restraint reflecting and mirroring pent up emotions and energy that want to break loose, and one wonders what would happened if they were allowed to break free.

While Mark Southern weaves a tapestry of sound with electric jazz and the crisp staccato of flamenco guitar riffs, sometimes alone or together in organic rhythms around simple horn sequences.

Together the music they create is worth giving a listen to and makes their next release something to keep and ear out for.

Track List
1 Share Some Love
2 Body Electric
3 Eden
4 Li Adoro
5 Bamboo Baby
